btw, i was in the same situation as you once. one was here in my life, one was far away and a computer screen or tele was between us. i had feelings for both of them but only loved one of them. neither relationship worked out tho, but i'm still friends with both. tough situation, i know. ((((sun)))) btw, welcome to the board!!

There are so many horror stories about elders. Many people dislike or can't stand elders, in general. A number here have been truly hurt by some. BUT, have you ever had any positive experiences with elders? Has anybody truly been helped by an elder? Has your typical experience with elders been that they really don't care?

hmm, i can't say anything from a jw's/ex jw's point of veiw, but my uncle is an elder...though i may bitch and moan about some of the things he's said and done (along with the other 30 peeps in my fam ) he's one of the most decent men i've known in my life. i don't agree with much of his lifestyle or views and he doesn't agree with mine but i know that if i needed him for some reason or another he'd be there for me in an instant, putting all the religious trash aside. he's proved this with other 'worldly' family members.

i wouldn't change anything. all the good and all the bad have taught me something and got me to a new place in life. that's how things work. if i changed just one thing i wouldn't be the person i am now. and i kinda like me now .

when i was in the sixth grade in roswell n.m. i met this girl whos father had recently died.my father had also passed away recently.we were both very shy and haveing the lose of our fathers in common we stuck together that year.we never did anything outside of school however, not sure why,she never invited me over and now i think it was because of her horrible home life.but we ate lunch together everyday and chated in a class we shared.i never saw her again until..... when i was in my 20's my cousins wife told me that my friend demetria guynes was....... drum roll..plz.

celebrities, musicians..it's all the same.i met gord downie from the tragically hip when i was 13. he's good pals with my old bio teacher who also owned channel one, a club here that the hip played at regularily. unfortunately i wasn't a big fan at the time and didn't really think much of it, but i got to shake his hand and he got a kick out of how much i giggle . i've also met all the members of the death metal band cryptopsy, the guys from the punk band gob and next wednesday i get to meet the guys from cephalic carnage (another death metal band), as my cousin is good friends with them. and when i was just a wee child i met the wrestler andre the giant at some airport.
